The National Student Financial Aid Scheme is a South African government student financial aid scheme which provides financial aid to undergraduate students to help pay for the cost of their tertiary education after finishing high school. It is funded by the Department of Higher Education and Training.

NSFAS cover tuition and accommodation if the student is from out of town allowances for students depending on the place of residence, food, meals, living and transport allowances, NSFAS does not cover the interest on a fees statement, gym, library books lost and re-exam fees. The student is liable to settle such fees.
