A non-governmental organization (NGO) called Sea Sense collaborates closely with Tanzanian coastal communities to preserve and safeguard endangered marine species, including as dugongs, sea turtles, dolphins, whales, and whale sharks. The future of these animals and their habitats is extremely questionable, primarily due to human activity along the shore. The wellbeing of coastal peoples and the preservation of the larger marine and coastal ecology are inextricably related to their continued existence. The group is transforming attitudes toward conservation through employment, education, and training. Numerous coastal communities are taking part in marine conservation programs and realizing how important it is to preserve Tanzania’s abundant natural resources for coming generations. With a “grass-roots” approach to conservation, the group has hired and trained a network of over 60 Conservation Officers who act as ‘ambassadors for conservation’ in their village and serve as a vital link between Sea Sense and the wider community. Through their Vibrant Oceans Initiative, Bloomberg is supporting Sea Sense efforts to protect coral reef habitats and reduce illegal and destructive fishing practices. The organization is an equal opportunity employer, hence all qualified candidates are encouraged to apply.
