Following its opening on October 13, 2015, the government gazetted Government Notice No. 453 of 2015, which formed Benjamin Mkapa Hospital (BMH). In order to lessen the financial burden that comes with sending patients overseas, Dr. Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete, the fourth president of the United Republic of Tanzania, intended to create a state-of-the-art diagnostic treatment facility in Tanzania by 2015. With its 400 beds, the hospital can accommodate both in-country and foreign patients. The hospital currently offers a wide range of medical services, such as CT scans, MRIs, X-rays, emergency medicine, intensive care unit (ICU), mammograms, and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Ultrasound, Angiography, Cath-Lab, Laboratory Services, Surgical Services and Radiotherapy Services. The Vision is To be a high-tech Hospital based on new sciences for a healthy society and sustainable natonal development. The Mission is To provide specialized and super specialized promotive, preventive, curative, rehabilitative services, research, innovative and training using new technologies.
