JV(AC-EE) is a joint venture between El-sewedy Electric and Arab Contractors that deals with the engineering, procurement, and construction of the Julius Nyerere Hydropower Project in Tanzania’s Stigler’s Gorge. The project is anticipated to generate 2,115 MW of installed capacity. In eastern Tanzania, a hydroelectric dam called the Julius Nyerere Hydropower Station is being built across the Rufiji River. Despite the controversy, the proposals were authorized by the government in 2018. An estimated 60 million Tanzanians will be served by the power plant, which is anticipated to have an installed capacity of 2,115 megawatts and generate 5,920GWh of electricity annually. In addition to producing electricity, the Stigler’s George, situated in the Selous Game Reserve across the Rufiji River, serves as a control gate for lethal floods that can periodically cause major loss in lives and goods with severe impact on the national economy. The project meets most of the UN 17 sustainability goals as it manages wisely precious resource, creates thousands of jobs, bridge an energy gap, stimulate the economy, and open wide gates for investors to penetrate Tanzania.
