A non-governmental organization founded in 1989 and recognized under the Societies Act of 1990 is the Tanzania Women Lawyers Association (TAWLA).
Despite obtaining an NGOs registration in 2019, the group complies with the NGOs Act of 2002. Through policy, community action, media involvement, and institutional and legal reforms, the group seeks to advance gender equality, human dignity, and gender justice. For the majority of Tanzanian women and children, violence against them occurs on a daily basis. Addressing violence against women and girls should be a top development priority due to its pervasiveness. Tanzania’s economic potential is hampered by violence against women and children, which takes resources away from their best uses.utilization and negatively impacting the country’s efforts to achieve Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 2030, African Agenda 2063 The Africa We Want, Tanzania Development Vision 2025, Tanzania Youth Development Policy 2007, National Strategy for Youth Involvement in Agriculture 2016-2021, and Country Development Cooperation Strategy (CDCS). Addressing these significant challenges necessitates TAWLA’s implements the project titled “Increasing Sustainable Access to Justice for Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Survivors at Bombo Hospital one stop center.”
