The “Building Climate Resilience in Kigoma Region” project is being launched by the Vice President’s Office in partnership with the Tanzania Forest Services (TFS), the National Environmental Management Council (NEMC), the Kigoma Regional Secretariat, the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). This initiative intends to address the effects of climate change in Kigoma and is sponsored by the Green Climate Fund (GCF) through UNEP. The project will be carried out in the Kigoma Region’s districts of Kasulu, Kibondo, and Kakonko between 2024 and 2028. By using climate-smart farming techniques, sustainable land management, and resource conservation, the goal is to increase community resilience to the effects of climate change. Tanzania embraced multiparty democracy in 1992 System which necessitated major Constitutional amendments. These amendments addressed the issue of Vice President and the system of running mate was introduced that paired a presidential and Vice Presidential candidate. This meant that, the President of Zanzibar ceased being an automatic Vice President of the Union but became a member of the Union Cabinet.
