In addition to helping vulnerable children who are homeless and living alone, Railway Children Africa (RCA Tanzania) has made significant progress in enhancing child safety procedures. Regarded by the Tanzanian government and industry as the leading organization for reintegrating families and dealing with children who have been involved with the streets, Railway Children Africa has a long history of bringing about change at the national and local authority levels. In order to guarantee that safety is at the center of all initiatives to reunite Tanzanian children with their families, UNICEF and the Tanzanian government collaborated to create National Guidelines on Child Reintegration in 2018. We have established a robust institutional presence in Dar es Salaam and Mwanza, and in these cities we have forged relationships with government staff involved in social care and child protection. In 2022, we embarked on a new five-year strategy with an ambitious goal: to leave no child behind. We are determined to meet this challenge head on and make a deep and lasting impact on the lives of vulnerable children, both now and for generations to come.
