From kindergarten through secondary school, three schools are run by Tanzania’s Aga Khan Education Services (AKEST). Every school strives to deliver a high-quality education that fosters critical thinking and independent inquiry while imparting a wide range of academic and human qualities. The Aga Khan schools in Tanzania have its roots in the 19th century, when Sir Sultan Mohamed Shah Aga Khan III established a girls’ school in Zanzibar about 1905. The goal of AKES in Tanzania is to put into practice educational initiatives that help students develop the intellectual and life skills necessary to navigate a world that is becoming more and more characterized by globalization and technological advancement. To fulfill the requirements of diverse communities, AKES in Tanzania operates schools which run both National and International curricular. Our goal is to provide quality education that prepares students to thrive personally and professionally. Our programmes embody AKES’ commitment to service, not just in the school, but to the neighbouring community and beyond. Our extensive reach, progressive programmes and emphasis on inclusivity create a positive, permanent impact on the students, teachers, parents, alumni, and communities we serve.
