In Muleba Musoma DC, Ukerewe, and Nyamagana Districts, Environmental Management and Economic Development (EMEDO) is carrying out the “Lake Victoria Drowning Prevention Project (LVDDP)” with financial and technical assistance from the Royal National Life Boat Institution (RNLI). The project’s goal is to lower the risk factors for drowning in fishing settlements along Lake Victoria. The project raises awareness among relevant non-governmental stakeholders, development partners, and decision and policy makers across several sectors at both the local and national levels. EMEDO strives to guarantee that natural resources and the environment are managed fairly for the benefit of biodiversity and people. The group supports procedures that examine how decisions are made, how authority and responsibility over natural resources are used, and how local communities—men, women, and young people—are affected.benefit from the management of natural resources; The organization was founded in year 2005 and acquired its official registration in November 2006, under the Non-Governmental Organizations Act of year 2002 with registration number OONGO/1771 to operate in the Mainland Tanzania. Its headquarters are in Mwanza City with its offices located at Block A Sweya, Silivini street, Luchelele Ward near St. Augustine University of Tanzania.
