Mkuki Na Nyota Publishers was founded in 1981 in reaction to Tanzania’s overall lack of independent, high-quality publishing. Our goal is to become a dynamic, fiercely independent Tanzanian publishing house that produces timely, progressive, liberating, reasonably priced, and enjoyable works. Through our efforts, we continue to foster Tanzanian reading culture and support indigenous literature as a means of storytelling preservation and dissemination. The TPH Bookstore, located at 24 Samora Ave., Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, and the University of Dodoma’s Chimwaga Building, 2nd floor, both sell all of the current works produced by Mkuki na Nyota. Additionally, our books are distributed throughout Tanzania and are accessible in all fine bookshops throughout East Africa. African Books Collective (ABC) is our main distributor in Europe and North America. They offer online ordering with prices in US dollars, Euros, and Pounds Sterling. In addition, you can also find our books through online retailers such as Amazon, Barnes and Nobles, Lightning Source (UK and US), and Gardners, UK.
