The opening of the U.S. Embassy in Tanzania Through responsible, democratic administration that effectively addresses citizen demands and takes action to reduce threats to Tanzania’s security as well as that of its neighbors and the wider globe, Tanzania helps Tanzanians create and maintain a healthier, more wealthy, and safe country. In particular, the Mission collaborates with Tanzanians to combat HIV/AIDS and malaria, enhance infrastructure, expand educational opportunities, and foster economic growth. These objectives are achieved by collaboration between Tanzanian and American administrations. About 700 embassy employees, friends, Tanzanian government officials, members of the diplomatic corps, members of the private sector, and family members attended the official opening of the new organization compound housing the American diplomatic community in Tanzania on March 4, 2003, with much excitement. The New Embassy Compound in Dar es Salaam was the third new American Embassy facility to officially open in the East African Community-Kampala in April, 20.
