The National Institute for Medical Research campus in Mwanza, Tanzania, is home to the joint research unit known as the Mwanza Intervention Trials Unit (MITU Vacancies). By conducting research, including clinical trials, to the highest international standards, MITU aims to improve health by developing and evaluating interventions against HIV and other health issues; strengthening Tanzania’s and East Africa’s capacity to conduct such research; and helping to translate research findings into health policy. MITU’s mission is to become a world-renowned center for HIV prevention and treatment research as well as research on other health issues. By collaborating with regional and global organizations, MITU hopes to improve health in East Africa. MITU is currently collaborating with other international research partners to conduct a cohort study of 500 HIV-infected adults and 500 HIV-negative adults. This five year program of research aims to understand the relationship between sleep, autonomic nervous system activity and 24-hour blood pressure variability in the cohort. The organization is an equal opportunity employer, hence all qualified candidates are encouraged to apply.
